280. London | Notting Hill

Thanks to my new internship I've been so incredibly busy all week. PR is such a fast-paced industry, I've been waking up to 10+ emails of new tasks from my boss every morning (& more throughout the day). But I'm still enjoying it. I manage their blogs so unfortunately have been focusing on those and neglecting my own. I'm also behind on a lot of your posts! But I will be back to regular blogging soon.
I've been Tumblr-ing for my company and decided to finally get my own Tumblr as well. I can't believe it's taken me so long - I LOVE Tumblr.. Follow me!! PS: who took the username Leftbanked already? :(
& Did you notice my new blog layout? I don't like it that much but it's only temporary.

Enough about work - here are some photos from London. If you are new, I went there back in May. It's literally taking forever to post all my vacation photos...

On the first day, I arrived at about 9am in London. After the flight I was jet-lagged, lacking sleep and stressed about my lost luggage. Took a lot of effort to resist just passing out for a much-needed nap on my very comfy bed. Took even more effort to resist obsessively checking the online luggage-tracking page to see where all my stuff was. Eventually I managed to drag myself to Notting Hill! One of the places I was looking forward to the most. Portabello Road of course.

The more I used it, the more I loved the Tube. So efficient, and so many foreigners/tourists using it. On the way to Notting Hill I was happily squished in the center of a group of cute Italian boys. Normally in Toronto I HATE crowded subways and avoid them if I could. Is it just me or does this photo look a bit amusing (guy on the left in black jacket vs. guy on the right in grey. Looks like they're mad at each other or something):





Once I arrived here I forgot all about my lost luggage. It was so cool to finally see those colourful houses in person that I've seen so many times before in photos. Portabello Road was extremely packed, but I didn't mind at all. I already fell in love with London at that point. There's just such a great energy in this city.





Caffe Florian at Harrods. I love all the restaurants at Harrods, but this was my favourite. (The original Caffe Florian is in Venice). I spent way more time in Harrods during my trip than I want to admit. I went there to avoid the rain, for meals, to avoid the Queen's Jubilee crowds, & also to purchase everything you see here (except the iPod):

279. Nikki Beach at The Spoke Club for TIFF 2012

First of all, thank you for all the nice comments on my previous entry. I think in my post I sounded more extreme and stressed than I actually was lol..but I have good news.
I love how things seem to always happen at the right moments for me. Life just did a complete 180. Yesterday I just got a new internship that I really really love - at a luxury PR firm! They do luxury lifestyle, travel, real estate, and fashion PR - all industries I love. I hope I'll eventually be able to work there because even though I've been assigned a lot of tasks to do, I still really enjoy it and it doesn't seem like work at all. Plus I can work from home! I'm already planning ahead and thinking of travelling and working at the same time. And as a bonus - my boss is extremely nice :)
Right now I mainly manage all their social media; I update the company blogs and keep their Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr active by posting everything related to the luxury industry. It's exactly what I do everyday anyway (for my personal accounts). It's funny in my previous post I was saying how I felt guilty for not doing anything for months (besides being online all day), now I'm literally doing the exact same but I have a reason to. I'm excited to start on our company's luxury travel blog. You may know I have one already that I've been neglecting (not because I don't like it though) so now I'm glad I "have" to do one. Love the thought of researching luxury hotels and cities everyday.

The other thing I've always wanted was to create a business of my own. After trying to think of a good business idea for months, my friend & I finally have one. Credit goes to him for the idea though. I think it has a great chance of succeeding. We're meeting this weekend to plan it more. Looks like I'm going to be a lot busier from now on, but a good kind of busy....it's nice that I'm feeling super productive for once hahah.

Ah I seem to be writing more and more on my posts these days. Thank you if you read the entire thing. Moving on.

Last night my friend & I went to the Nikki Beach opening night at The Spoke Club !! They come to Toronto every year for our film festival. I've been looking forward to the opening for weeks, since I went to the one last year at the rooftop of Bell Lightbox & had a really fun night.

We arrived at The Spoke Club, they checked us off the guest list and we walked in. Was much less of a hassle than last year. Took the elevator to the top floor to find a huge crowd/line of people waiting to go up to the rooftop patio. A few min of everyone trying to squeeze their way to the front of the line, we found ourselves by the bouncers..I looked and realized one of them worked in my building before. He recognized me as well and let us up.







I wish they did it at the same venue as last year (the rooftop of Bell Lightbox is by far my favourite in the city). I found The Spoke Club's to be too small and it didn't have a great view. But it wasn't too bad, I really loved the music! Sorry these photos I took were kind of bad. Might try to go again so I'll take better ones next time.

232. baumkuchen

As usual, photos found on my Blackberry from the past week..


Today I went to a chocolate store near me called Eitelbach. They're famous for their Baumkuchen ("tree cake") which is essentially cake covered in chocolate (the two in the clear wrapping). It was ok, it didn't taste that special or anything. But to be honest I don't even like chocolate - I was just curious to try it.


Finally went to Bloke & 4th on a night last week. It's a fairly new lounge/club that opened up on King West (IMO the best area for good lounges/clubs if you're not from here). I liked it, but there were so many people there that night. I liked the crowd - lots of well dressed people and every other guy wore like a blazer + scarf lol. That was totally the style there.

So nothing really exciting has been happening in life lately. Just been busy with school and interning. I don't remember if I talked about my internship here yet? I just got it like 2 weeks ago. It's at a media marketing company (yea, sick of the fashion ones..) I'm there on the two days when I have no classes. I'm still trying to adjust to that..as much as I wish I had some days off to relax, I also really like the internship so far.

PS - I just reached 300 followers on my blog!!!!

20. Gucci Gucci Gucci

Some photos taken during my first days interning at Gucci.

Before I went for my internship today, I really didn't want to go because I was really stressed about school and making that stupid BIG SHIRT - I just found out I have to redo everything that I've done for the past few days. Anyway after my last class I went to Gucci and it wasn't too bad today..it was actually quite fun. Though I'm not sure why because we didn't do anything particularly fun? hahah. BUT I got to see some gorgeous, gorgeous women's coats and black dresses and omg I want one so badly. I really like being there..the managers/staff there are very nice and the other interns are great too.

Today for part of the time, I wrote notes/invitations to attach to the gifts they're giving to the top clients. I would love to receive one of those VIP gifts someday hahah. Now I feel kind of bad though because my writing was kind of bad. I should've made it nicer =\ The manager said it was 'perfect' though but I think he was just being nice & he's probably redoing them all now..



Lots & lots of belts - when you see so many of one thing, it kind of loses it's appeal..even if it's Gucci

19. New Intern at GUCCI!!

Last week I applied for an internship position at Gucci and had the interview today.
Welllll guess what?! They accepted me!! I am now going to intern at the Gucci flagship store in Yorkville!

My day didn't start off that great actually. Classes were kind of boring, and I was so worried about going to the interview after school because in my mind, I was about 98% sure I WOULDN'T get the internship. 

So anyways after arriving at Gucci, I then had my interview with the assistant manager. She's really really nice. She took me back to the back of the store..wow it was like heaven in there with all those Gucci clothes & bronze Gucci boxes ♥ hahaha. First she asked me what I was hoping to gain from that experience..I just told her as much as I could..and then she started telling me all the tasks I would be doing. She told me that interning at this time is perfect because the store is being renovated, and their grand opening is in a bit more than a month. They'll be needing a lot of help so I won't be the only intern. So I'll be here for the grand opening and I can meet all sorts of industry people. They're also having the Trunk Show soon & I'll also be here helping for that! What else..umm I'll be helping with merchandising, and keeping track of inventory (they're getting a huge shipment coming in soon!). I'm extremely excited at the thought of opening all those boxes and boxes of new Gucci stuff. I'm also going to be at the front of the store, helping one of the sales associates with their 'top clients' - helping bring clients champagne, clothes to try on, stuff like that. 
The manager also told me a bunch of other stuff about what was going on with the store and the whole of Yorkville. There's a lot of projects happening around there now..including the $5 million condos above the Gucci store, something about a granite walkway..

Then I just tried to ask her as many questions as I could. I asked her about dress code, and we have to dress all in black. So tomorrow, it looks like I'll be taking my day off from school to go shopping again! I think I'm starting there this saturday. Well it's an orientation thing but she said we'll be there for 4 hours? Anyway I'm really excited. & I'm probably making too big of a deal out of this.
