383. La Societe + Ki

Sockeye Salmon Makimono
Last week was my birthday. I am now officially 24. My life is going by way too fast..I don't even know where all the time goes! I like where my life is right now but I wish I could go back to being 21 (and stay that age forever), while being at the same stage in life right now. If that makes sense. Anyways, I never really celebrate my birthday. This year I went for a couple birthday dinners with my family. We went to two of my favourite restaurants: La Societe and Ki. I used to go to Ki so often! Sometimes multiple times in a week. It's just around the corner from where I live, and considered one of the main spots of the after-work/financial district crowd. I have fond memories of that place. Last Monday we went there for dinner.

Ki Japanese
Ki Sweet Potato Wedges
These sweet potato wedges are my favourite thing on the menu. I order them literally every single time I go. They are delicious!

Sockeye Salmon Makimono
Sockeye Salmon Makimono. There's kiwi, apple and cucumber inside topped with a piece of salmon. It sounded good but I didn't know they prepare it with wasabi already in there.

Ki Toronto
Sashimi Salad

Ki Teriyaki Chicken and Short Ribs
Chicken Teriyaki and Grilled Short Ribs (loved them)

Ki Japanese Toronto
Tofu & Eggplant Kushiyaki and I forgot what that makimono was..I think eel? It was good and wasabi-free.

Ki Japanese Restaurant
La Societe pomme puree mac and cheese
Dinner at La Societe the previous weekend. My side orders: pomme puree & mac and cheese.

La Societe Chickpea Tajine
Chickpea Tajine

La Societe cornish hen
Cornish Hen

La Societe ice cream
Two trios of ice cream for dessert. They have a lot of flavours to choose from & they're all delicious (especially lychee)

Harrods birthday card
I was pleasantly surprised to find this in the mail - a birthday card all the way from Harrods!

  1. The salmon makimono and the mac and cheese look so good! I've just had dessert but I would still eat these ice creams, very nicely served. Yes, life goes by fast. Enjoy every moment while you can!

  5. Happy belated birthday Tiffany! That sockeye salmon roll looks delicious but I wouldn't have enjoyed the wasabi as I'm personally not a fan of it. The sashimi salad looks great, I feel that my love of salad has gone up lately. Life does go by fast but I've noticed that each year has been better than the last, so Iook forward to the next year!

  6. Happy (belated) birthday! I know what you mean, I wish I could go back to being 19 and staying 19 forever yet still equipped with the knowledge I know now. In a perfect world eh?!
