800. Bangkok Part 6 | Iconsiam Summer Kite Playground

Iconsiam kite show
I'm not usually into shopping malls but the good ones in Asia are really on another level. They are often well-designed with lots of different types of stores, restaurants, outdoor terraces, events etc and just an overall nice place to spend the day walking around. Iconsiam is a fairly new mall here in Bangkok (I believe they opened in 2018). We live just across the river from it so we've visited a couple of times. I really love it and think it is now my favourite mall in the world!

During this time they have the "Summer Kit Playground" event (which happens every weekend in the evenings I think). There's a lot of installations and large kites - as you can see on the side, even a blue whale!

The mall is HUGE (and it's not even the largest in Bangkok). So on our first visit we only explored about 3 floors out of 7. Well we visited the eating area ("floating market"), one restaurants area, and I bought a new Louis Vuitton bag! Afterwards we checked out the Summer Kite Playground outside before heading back. The mall offers free shuttle boats bringing people from side to side. I will post the remaining floors of the mall in another upcoming post..

Iconsiam Bangkok
During my trips to Hong Kong in the past, I would love visiting all the malls and taking photos of all the stores, interior design and architecture. I did exactly that here too. It felt like deja vu - I really missed shopping in Asia! I always find a lot of unique clothes that I like from Asia. In Toronto I have a really hard time shopping because it is quite rare for me to find something I like enough to buy.

Another thing about malls in Asia is that they have very beautiful and clean washrooms! Usually there is someone in there cleaning the stall right after its been used (not just during COVID times).

The people here in Thailand have all been very friendly so far. I was taking a photo of this floating market boat and the woman was facing forward at first. Then she turned around as I was taking the photo - I expected her to not be happy with it but instead she smiled for my photo. Ater spending a few months in Morocco just prior, I've gotten used to being told off for taking photos of people lol. (There they REALLY hate being in photos, even if they are just in the background).

732. Christmas Part 2 | Archlight & George

leftbanked one king west lobby
My last post of 2019! Tomorrow is already NYE. We are staying in Toronto for it this year and don't have any plans yet. It's pretty crazy to think that it's the start of a new decade. & it will have been roughly 12 years since I started this blog (sometime in 2008).

I am not sure how many original readers I still have now but back then, I mainly started blogging when I moved out of my parents' house into my own place downtown. I started university (studying Fashion at Ryerson) and had a lot of experiences (and people) to blog about. I can't believe I'm still blogging now..although not as frequently. I will likely continue for an indefinite amount of time since I always enjoy reading back in old posts for the memories.

For 2020 I hope I can become better organized, better at prioritizing and accomplish some things that I keep putting off doing.

Anyways! Here is Christmas Part 2. There will also be a part 3 but I'll save it for the following post.

Louis Vuitton gift box
My Christmas gift from my boyfriend..the Louis Vuitton Archlight sneakers! I really love them! I'm not a huge fan of the super chunky sneakers trend (like the Balenciaga or Gucci ones) but these ones are my favourite. I feel they could still be in style after the trend dies. Let's see how long I am able to keep them nice and white.

As for my Christmas gift to my boyfriend this year, I decided to do a 10 Days of Christmas gift-giving (which I mentioned in my previous post). There were ten gifts over ten days including some smaller bonus items. For one of them I took him for dinner at George Restaurant. We did the tasting menu. I love coming here for the tasting menu because it's all a surprise. You each get different dishes (which is good for switching/tasting a bit of everything!):

699. Recent Life

leftbanked outfit
I know I haven't updated in so long! Even after this post I'm still a bit behind. Life has gotten quite a bit busier these days. I've been focusing on some new things including work, launching a new online store, trying to read more, etc. I also need to find time this summer to start driving lessons..hopefully lol. Something I've been saying for years. But time seems to be going by too fast.

Here are some photos from the past several weeks:

Tutti Matti
Discovered this Tuscan cuisine restaurant called Tutti Matti a few weeks ago. I really looooved this pasta. It tasted so fresh and summer-y with asparagus, snap peas, pancetta and house-made fettucine pasta.

Dinner at Sofia. I usually really love Charles Khabouth's restaurants but this one was just ok. There was nothing spectacular about the food. My lobster portion was quite small for what it was worth. The interior decor was really cool though.
