271. Munich | H'ugo's

I've been neglecting this city so far for my vacation posts, so finally here are some photos of Munich. I stayed here for 3 days. I probably already mentioned this before but one of my friends from Germany (who lives in another city a few hours away) came to visit me when I was there. We met three years ago when he came on vacation to Toronto and stayed in my hotel. It was cool to meet up again, but for that reason I don't have a LOT of photos from here since I didn't want to act all touristy snapping photos of literally everything like I normally do hahah. Well, I still did it..to a controlled extent.

On my last night here we went to this place called H'ugo's for drinks and pizza. I was told it's the best pizza in Munich. I'm not a huge fan of pizza but I think this tasted better than any I've had in Toronto so far.

Dinner at Marienplatz - a huge German sausage ;]
It was the perfect spot in front of the city hall and tourist central (like all the main Squares of any city usually are). Met a family of friendly Americans at the next table.

Preppy mannequins in a store window. I noticed a lot of boys dress like this in Germany..well the bright red or green pants look seems popular for boys throughout Europe but the Germans dress more preppy - like they just walked out of a Ralph Lauren catalog.

At my hotel room. If you missed it before, I did a review of it here

270. big pony

Here's some photos taken on my camera and Blackberry from the past weekend. It began with a night out with my former next door neighbour. Well he lived here four years ago (my first friend at 1KW!), left for the past few years and came back just for this weekend. First we went to Real Sports bar then hung out in his room drinking til 5am. Boys love drinking Hpnotiq with me..as they're too embarrassed to order it themselves when they go out.

The huge screen and HUGE order of nachos we got at Real Sports bar.

Dom Perignon pillow

Drinking beside the lake on the Watermark patio
FYI: lemon tea beer does not taste at all like radlers (beer + lemonade) :(

Monday afternoon we had PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT weather.
Cucumber sangria and arancini on the O&B patio

Big Pony. I used to wear polos a LOT..stopped for a while and now I'm pulling them back out again.
Also. You might have noticed I've been cleaning up my blog lately. I used to have 500-something entries, now this is my 270th! I deleted all the pointless and embarrassing entries. I also edited my about me page if you want to check it out.

269. Copenhagen | Hotel Fox

Hotel Fox
Jarmers Plads 3
DK-1551 Copenhagen V
Denmark
T: +45 33 13 30 00
E: hotel@hotelfox.dk

I stayed in two different hotels when I was in Copenhagen. The first was Phoenix Copenhagen (which I will review later) and the second was Hotel Fox. I loved Hotel Fox a lot more and regretted not booking my entire stay with them.

When I travel, I love to stay at luxury hotels as well as creative design hotels. Hotel Fox was the most unique hotel I've stayed at on this trip (but I haven't stayed at many design ones in the past). It is a boutique design hotel, with 61 different rooms by international artists. They do their best to accommodate your choice of room, but of course you're not guaranteed the one you want as they're quite a popular hotel. Here are all the rooms, which are categorized by size: small, medium, large and extra large.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would for sure come back again. The staff are so friendly..plus they have THE best buffet breakfast!

My room was an extra large. #206 - "Ecstasy". I didn't see how big the other rooms are but as an "extra large" it wasn't so big compared to other hotel rooms I've stayed in. So if you decide to book this hotel, I would recommend booking a large or extra large room if you're used to having a bit of space. I was also impressed by how clean the room was - completely spotless!

Now the highlight of my stay here: the breakfast!! If not included with your room rate, it is 155DKK ($25) and well worth the price. It was my favourite hotel breakfast. Probably not surprising, as the food in Copenhagen was also my favourite out of all the other cities I visited this trip.

This city is famous for their sandwiches (particularly smørrebrød) and they really are all delicious. Usually I'm picky with food but I tried almost all the different kinds of sandwiches they had here even when I wasn't always sure what was inside.

They also have a selection of Danish pastries..I don't know what this was but it was SO DELICIOUS! Scandinavian pastries are my favourite.

Most of their rooms are really cool. Here's my favourites:

Go here for all of them!

Prices:
Small: $232 (1395 DKK)
Medium: $322 (1936 DKK)
Large: $336 (2021 DKK)
Extra Large: $364 (2191 DKK)

Location: Very conveniently located across the street from a small 24hr grocery store, 5min walking distance to Strøget (the main pedestrian street), and about 10min walk to Tivoli Gardens (the famous amusement park).
