Last week, my bf & I went on a short getaway to a cozy log cabin in Quebec. I had never gone on a proper winter vacation before (I have travelled during winter before but not to a cold snowy place). I don't know why I never thought to do so because I love it now! Winter activities are a lot of fun and if you go to the right place with enough snow, the scenery is stunning. I really want to go on more winter travels now.
I've always wanted to go to a log cabin and after some extensive research, we found
Au Chalet en Bois Rond. They are a village of log cabins (about 45min outside of Quebec City & about 8 hours drive from Toronto!). We booked it a few months ago and I've been so excited to go ever since. Overall we had an amazing time and really regret not staying longer. Au Chalet en Bois Rond is wonderful. The cabins are all very new, clean, well-equipped, cozy, and well-maintained. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and great at communications. There are a wide variety of activities to do both for winter and summer. I would definitely recommend them and personally would LOVE to go back again.
There is a main building for the village where you go to check in, book activities, etc. They have a small shop and restaurant too. The area with the cabins is gated and very secluded. The whole area has a lot of forests/trees, lakes, rivers, and small waterfalls. There is no cell phone reception at all in there but all the cabins have reliable and high-speed WIFI.
Our cabin was the
Batiskan. It was large enough for 6 people. There was a basement, the main floor and second floor had a small sitting area and the main bedroom. They have a full kitchen and it's fully equipped. Like way more equipped than I had expected. They had just about everything you need and more. Outside there is a hot tub and BBQ.
There's a lot I want to post about for this trip which I'll spread out over several posts. This one will just be about our actual cabin.

Our cabin was the one with the green roof on the right side. The big open space is a lake.

The entrance

As you can see..we brought a lot of winter-y drinks/food there lol. Here is some apple cider!

The fireplace/stove which we sat in front of every night playing Uno. & roasted marshmallows one night.

This is the main bedroom on the 2nd floor.

Sitting area in front of the bedroom. One complaint we had were the shutters - ridiculously hard to open and close. As you can see here we only managed to do it halfway lol.

This is the view from the 2nd floor window looking onto the front entrance. On the left you can see the hot tub. We used this for a few nights..it was really nice but freeeezing getting in and out of it.

So this wasn't from the cabin but I just had to throw it in here. It was our lunch on the drive getting there from Toronto. It's a fast food place called Benny & Co. which seems to be extremely popular in Quebec. They had one at almost every stop along the highway. Their chicken poutine is sooooo good (& as you can see..extremely large so I'd recommend sharing a medium size with someone if you are to get it lol).
