Last week my boyfriend and I had our anniversary dinner at Blueblood, a beautiful steakhouse inside Casa Loma. I really loved it. It was a great way to celebrate the best two years of my life so far!
For one of our dinners last week, my boyfriend and I went to BlueBlood Steakhouse at Casa Loma! I've been wanting to go for a long time because I love Casa Loma and the interiors of the restaurant are so beautiful. It was a great night and I always have good memories when we go there together :)
I got the "Down by the Bay" cocktail. It was nice and fruity.
As an appetizer we got the Prime Steak Tartare, which was served in a bone marrow canoe. It was sooo good!!
For the mains we got a Canadian Prime Rib Eye (which our server really insisted we try)..it was good but I thought there was too much fat. We also got a Japanese Wagyu A5 Striploin which I was curious to try as the only other time I had it was in Macau before (which was my favourite steak). As accompaniments we got the creamed corn and mashed potatoes. We were way too full by the end.
For dessert we had the Baked Alaska. I love this dessert and always get it (when it's available) at steakhouses. I love watching them make it. My favourite is still the one at Harbour Sixty though..since the outside is more like toasted marshmallow and inside it's hazelnut ice cream. Two of my favourite things!
The past couple of weeks felt like a dream. A lot has happened..mostly good things, and I definitely am not taking anything for granted. I really have to force myself to start updating my blog more often again (as I always say hahah). I'm going to make a serious effort to do so again. Just have to be better at managing my time & priorities. I feel I have more motivation these days though.
On Friday we went to Legends of Horror at Casa Loma which was so much fun!! I really enjoyed it. I've never gone to these types of things before and haven't celebrated Halloween in many years but this year I kind of want to go all out for it. Actually it will depend on if I can decide on/get a costume in time. For Legends of Horror you walk around the gardens of the castle, a haunted house, then stop for a drink (which I would not recommend - worst tasting cocktails ever lol) at the bar...then through the haunted underground tunnel to the horse stables.
Lately I've become obsessed with the club sandwich in my lobby bar lol
Washroom selfie at Earls last night. I went there for dinner last night to catch up with a friend..we stayed for over three hours there I'm pretty sure. Half our time was spent laughing about our waiter, who was THE MOST cringey waiter ever. He was overly friendly and did/said a lot of un-natural things we knew was just an obvious attempt at getting a larger tip lol. It was so funny though.
This Thanksgiving was very special to me, mostly because I have a lot to be thankful for this year and also because one month ago I had a dream about my Thanksgiving weekend which was something I was hoping would come true. & it actually did in a way. A few friends/neighbours and I went to O&B down the street from us for our turkey dinner. It was so good and a nice relaxing evening.
When Anouk came to visit, I suggested several places for her to visit but didn't include Casa Loma at first. As she is from Luxembourg, I didn't think she'd enjoy it as much since she lives in and around towns with much more impressive and grander castles. Casa Loma is the only castle in Toronto. It was the former home of businessman Sir Henry Pellatt and Lady Mary Pellatt. The castle was constructed in 1914.
We ended up going on her last day here. I wanted to visit as well since I haven't been there in years. I actually don't remember the last time I visited - it must have been more than 10 years ago. It's nice showing visitors around my city. Makes me feel like a tourist as well and appreciate my city more! We had a wonderful time here and I'm so glad we went. By the way, here is Anouk's post from the day which I suggest checking out..her photos are very beautiful!
One of the guest rooms, furnished in Asian style decor. I was thinking maybe they had different themes for each guest room based on who was staying there.
I liked the Asian style room as well as this one - the Windsor Room. This one was created for the Royal Family. Henry Pellatt had hopes they would one day visit and stay here.
Some really worn down furniture
Then we went to the very top tower of the castle to take in a magnificent view. There was a line up to go up and the only way up (and down) was a narrow spiral staircase.
Then we had a lunch break. I don't remember there being a restaurant here last time I visited...
After that, we took a quick walk around to explore the gardens. We were so lucky with the weather that day. I remember the forecast called for thunderstorms but luckily it was wrong and we had beautiful sunny weather (although it was ridiculously hot)
Hermes! I used to be quite interested in Greek mythology. Hermes was one of my favourites.
Lastly, we visited the garage and stables where we had to walk in a creepy underground tunnel to get to.
