340. NYC | Top of the Standard

Top of the Standard
I wonder how long I'll be able to keep up with these daily blog posts. Here's some more photos of New York! Starting with Top of the Standard on my last night there.

Dinner at La Grenouille - I really liked this restaurant. The service and food is amazing. Also just found out it's Zagat's 7th best restaurant in NYC. I definitely recommend it! I had the lobster and tarragon ravioli to start.

337. NYC - June 2013 | Favourites

Just got back yesterday from NYC..miss it a lot! The above is my favourite photo & favourite moment of the whole trip.

It seems my blog has officially turned into a travel blog - particularly for New York. I just scrolled through the past few pages and it's filled with posts from my previous times there. Unsurprisingly I wasn't able to do live-blogging once again.
I arrived last Thursday afternoon. First we took a long walk around Brooklyn/Brooklyn Bridge/Brooklyn Bridge Park. The rain started that evening and continued on until Friday. On Friday, in the middle of a tropical storm, we went to The Met. It was my first time there..I loved it! Saturday the rain stopped so we took a roadtrip to the Catskill Mountains, where I was able to cross of one thing on my list of things to do before I die ("lie under the stars" - I know this could've been done anywhere but I was waiting for the perfect place). The stars are amazing up there!! Don't have any photos unfortunately - pretty sure the view would've been impossible to capture. Sunday we strolled around Battery Park, had dinner then drinks at Top of the Standard (my favourite spot). My flight home was Monday afternoon. There were heavy rains so my original flight got cancelled & I got bumped to the next flight. Stressful day but made it home. Not liking being back home now though..anyways, here is a photo summary of the trip:

View from the plane + the familiar wait for a cab at LGA.

One thing I love about NYC is that there's sooo many parks and nice areas to walk around. This is Brooklyn Bridge Park. Perfect view of the skyline.

Awesome candy shop! Got a huge bag of gummy candy that lasted me all weekend.

Inside the Met on a rainy day. Great collection of art and I also really liked the interiors/building itself.

Wonderful dinner that evening at La Grenouille

We drove around Woodstock in the Catskills, & I had the most delicious pancakes for breakfast

Tiffany & Co on Wall Street

My favourite hotel in NY!

Cartier windows + my favourite photo once again.

307. NYC Part 2 | The Standard Hotel, High Line

Top of the Standard
I stayed at The Standard Hotel High Line for a couple nights when I was in NYC. If you like modern design boutique hotels I highly recommend it. I haven't tried too many different hotels in the city yet but I'm pretty sure this is one of my favourites in New York - would hopefully stay here again next time I'm there!! I loved everything about the hotel but my favourite has to be their rooftop bar: Top of the Standard (formerly Boom Boom Room). Incredibly swanky and classy with the perfect ambiance, perfect views and perfectly stylish people.

Cool washrooms - this is what you face while sitting on the toilet. Floor-to-ceiling windows over-looking the city as you pee.

The Standard Hotel High Line room
I stayed in a different room each night I was here. The bathrooms have no door (even the shower area doesn't have a door). You can see the entire bathroom from the rest of the room so if you're staying with someone, make sure you're very comfortable with them lol. The tub is huge & perfect for a bubble bath (with Hotel Costes music playing softly in the background)

The most comfortable bathrobe I've ever worn in my life.

This was by the entrance..a skating rink & Biergarten

I forgot to take a photo but another thing I loved here was their elevators. It feels like you're in a dream when you're inside. It's completely dark with eerie music and fantasy-like moving images on the side.

PS - FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM!! I just got it, along with a new phone. No more Blackberry..(finally)
