334. Paris | one year ago

I can't believe it's already been a YEAR since I was last in Paris. I was there last year from May 31 to June 5. I also can't believe I'm still not done re-capping that trip, one year later. From this point on I'm just going to do live-blogging on my trips. If I spread out my posts like this I feel I might sound extremely repetitive because I don't remember what I've already written, plus I can't write down in detail all the thoughts and emotions I was feeling when I was there. Anyways here are some random photos of my favourite city in the world, which I hope to return to sometime soon..

The hotel I stayed at, Legend Hotel, was right in the 6th arrondissement (one of my favourite areas) and literally brand new when I was there. Some of the rooms were still un-finished and the entrance wasn't complete but I had a wonderful stay. I will review it in an upcoming post. There's lots of nice cafes, restaurants, boulangeries, patisseries and boutiques around there. I'd love to live in that area. The first thing I did when I arrived was walk down to St. Germain des Prés to snap photos of the famous Cafe de Flore and Les Deux Magots. After that I kept walking and got to the Louvre, Tuileries, and attempted to make my way to the Eiffel Tower. I got lost as the sun went down. I was starving, had no idea where I was and I desperately needed to use the bathroom lol. It was horrible, but I was in Paris and it's difficult to be in a bad mood there.

This was a couple days later with a friend at Cafe de Flore. When I was in Paris I was rarely alone. I had already planned to meet up with two friends I already knew (who lived there), plus literally everywhere I went I met random acquaintances. Some people think travelling alone is lonely but it's honestly a lot more fun and easier to meet new friends.
So Cafe de Flore was one of the places I've always wanted to visit. It's a great spot to sit and people-watch. Everyone around there are so effortlessly chic and stylish. But the drinks are strong and the food isn't exactly amazing.
Funny coincidence - when I was waiting for my friend at Cafe de Flore I ran into a man who recognized me when my train stopped at Basel!! I briefly stopped at Basel after Lucerne/before going to Paris. SUCH a small world. Or I guess I should say Europe is small.

I was at Champs-Élysées every day. George V was the stop I went to the most, right beside the LV mothership. ;)

It's kind of funny when random people un-intentionally get into my shots. When I look at them years later I always wonder how the person looks like now. It would be really cool to see all the photos that exist with me in the background somewhere..

This was my last night/last cocktail in Paris. I wanted to stay out as late as possible as I just didn't want to leave! I guess that was the reason why I accidentally slept in and missed my train to London ("Miss, we recommended you arrive at least 30min before your departure time. Not the minute before." - as I arrived a little too late at customs)
I really wish I could've talked about this night back then because it was pretty memorable but now if I type it all out it'll seem kind of insignificant (to you). Plus I don't remember most of it. It was about three hours of conversation with the waiter (who spoke only French), scary man who bought me my drink/yelled when he spoke (also spoke only French), and a couple beside me (the guy spoke English and spent the entire time translating). It was the perfect "final night", and one of those meaningful conversations I'll always remember..and will keep the details to myself. The couple beside me and I were the last ones there. The last thing he said to me was "Good luck with your move to Paris. Maybe one day we will see you here again at the same spot." - I do hope that day comes soon..

  1. I really enjoyed this post. Yes, funny how you meet random people again. It happened to me a couple of times in NY (on the rare occasions I travelled there). I like the photo of Folies Pigalle because it reminded me of a night when a friend and I went clubbing there (in our younger days)...

  3. Paris is just beautiful. But I agree with you that Cafe Flore and Deux Magots food are not that good but a place to go just for the experience.. I remember the Louis Vuitton store at George V as that was the first store I ever bought my LV bag a decade ago. It is less crowded hopefully.

    1. yea my French friend told me that the locals don't even go there really..it's more of a touristy place now but I still love it
My first LV was from Paris as well..but at the Galeries Lafayette location! There's still lots of crowds there all the time but I was lucky enough to bypass the line each time I went lol

  9. Gorgeous photos and I truly enjoyed this post (not that I don't enjoy other ones haha) This also makes me reminisce my trip and also why I blog soon after my trip so I won't forget it, I guess I somewhat treat my blog as a trip journal lol I can't believe that that man recognized you from your short stop! It such a small world after all and how knows, you'll probably run into that couple again =) I think we were at Champs-Élysées for 3/4 of our trip, mainly because we were so undecisive about buying stuff and wanted time to think about it lol
