Some of the holiday lights in the city went up last week! I can't believe it's almost winter/Christmas already. The year went by so fast. This year, I am starting my Christmas shopping super early (instead of last minute like I normally do) and actually got the first gift yesterday. & I already have an idea of the other things I will be getting.
A few days ago I went to Yorkdale with my mom. Holt Renfrew just put up their Christmas decorations and were having a "Christmas Imagined By Holts" shopping event, where 10% of proceeds from that evening were to be donated to the Children's Make a Wish Foundation. They also had hot chocolate and candy...
There were a few really warm days here last week. I took Hennessy for a walk and we stopped by the dog park. This is what he does there. Just sit and watches the other dogs play lol.
Random photos found on my phone from the past few weeks..most are food photos (as usual?)
As some of you know, Canoe is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. Thanks to the cold weather, Canoe being connected to the underground path (which my building is also - so luckily I don't have to step outdoors), and them having the most delicious Beef Wellington sliders I've ever tasted..I've been going there more and more often these days. We always sit at the same spot with this view.
The beef sliders and "sammies" on the right - with bacon, cheddar and smoked mustard mayonnaise. I hate mustard and mayo but these were delicious!!
Niagara Apples dessert
Red Velvet cake
Different night from the above - the beef sliders again & vegetable spring rolls..so good!
The December 2013 issue of Paris Vogue. I HAD to get it because of the cover..I love the Beckhams!
Earlier this month I went to the Wedluxe show (for work purposes) - an annual luxury wedding show in the Royal York Hotel.
Dinner one night at Amsterdam BrewHouse. I had the chicken schnitzel. The previous time I went to this place was in the middle of summer. I remember sitting outside on the patio, with the sun shining down on me. I almost melted because it was so hot. But that night when we went..it was extremely cold and the lake was pretty much frozen. I can't wait for warmer weather to arrive again..so Hennessy and I can take daily harbourfront walks again:
Last weekend we went for a teppanyaki dinner at Memories of Japan for my dad's (belated) birthday dinner.
This is one of my favourite photoshoots I've ever done. I'm really not sure why I never posted more photos from it before..so here it is! Subtle watermarking was needed on these since they're some of my favourites. I was looking through the old files buried away in my other laptop and found all the originals. The first post I made from it a couple years ago is the most popular post on my blog to date (well in terms of comments): Crystal Head Vodka x Alexander McQueen. So here's a repost/my favourites from the entire set.
I took these photos for a photography class project. We were to shoot a fashion accessory. I had just gotten the Alexander McQueen skull ring (from Paris, thanks to my sister!), and threw it together with some other matching items I had which turned out quite well I think. The Crystal Head Vodka skull bottle was still banned here at the time, and I wanted it really badly. I managed to get it at the perfect time. I'm very grateful for the creepy "anonymous" stranger who gave it to me. One morning my valet desk downstairs gave me a call to say someone left a package for me. I went to get it..my jaw dropped when I saw what it was..& dropped even further when they told me who had left it for me.
Sometimes something that happens at literally the very end of the night (even if just for a few minutes) can put me in an entirely different mood than I was in the entire day. I will take it as a good sign this time. In case you're starting to get sick of all the New York posts, here's a bunch of very random photos found on my phone:
Today my friend and I went to a lunch event at Harbour Sixty. I invited the same friend I went with last time. We didn't manage to do the same 5-hour dinner marathon as last time but I left equally as stuffed from all the food. I love it there.
Started off with the Harbour Sixty Salad. Actually, I started off with devouring almost the entire basket of bread (their cheese bread = amazing!) which was a mistake as I should've left a lot more room for the remaining courses..
Then the Grilled Salmon..so good!!
My friend's humongous (Man vs. Food?) prime rib sandwich. It was a lot bigger than it looks here.
Creme Brulee.
Then I went home, grabbed the dog & headed down to the harbour again to meet my friend (& his whole family)
Heading home. Nice relaxing Tuesday..I love when weekdays feel like the weekend.
