650. Recent Life

Pick 6ix cocktails
A couple of weeks ago we went for dinner at the semi-new Pick 6ix/Drake's restaurant. I wasn't expecting much when we went since the online reviews so far are pretty bad. The cuisine is mostly sushi and Asian fusion. I thought the food wasn't horrible but just pretty overpriced. The sushi options on their menu seemed to be more expensive than my other favourite sushi restaurants in Toronto (which specialize in Japanese cuisine/are highly-rated). I really liked the interior designs of the restaurant though, and all the food was nicely presented.

I loved the washroom sinks!

The pavlova dessert was really good.

At my building's Owners' AGM. I recently came to the realization that I've already been living at my current place for 10 years (!!) this year. Time really flies. I remember the time I attended the first meeting when I was just 18 and it was held in our downstairs vault (my building used to be a bank so that was the safety deposit vault) and there was only like ~20 people. Now we have it in the ballroom and I still always look forward to the food there hahah.

Luscious Desserts
A new Asian desserts place, Luscious Desserts. We don't get many of these places in downtown so I'm glad they opened one. It's pretty good. We came twice in one week..

587. Rockies Roadtrip | Day 2 - UBC & Canada Place

Bellagio Cafe Canada Place
Today, I went with my aunt to UBC then around the harbourfront area of Vancouver. Then in the evening we went with my other aunt and uncle who live in Vancouver for dinner (along with a few of their friends as well). I wanted to visit the UBC campus as one of my Toronto friends studied here for the last several years and suggested I visit. He's now back in Toronto so my aunt and I went around on his recommendations of where to go and eat.

Visiting the campus made me think back to all those years ago when I was applying to universities. I had actually wanted to come to UBC before..I applied for a business program and got accepted. But then I ended up staying in Toronto since I also got accepted to the Fashion Communications program at Ryerson and decided to go there instead..I wonder how different my life would've turned out if I did end up going to UBC for business!

Then we walked around downtown a bit and went for some dessert by the water (first photo). I realized that for all the cities I've visited so far (and even at home in Toronto)...my favourite areas to walk around are by the water/harbour. I really loved it here..will have to come back another day for a longer walk. There were a lot of seaplanes flying around. They're so cute! We actually have one booked next week to fly to Victoria..I didn't realize they were so tiny. Either the cruise ship is huge or the plane is tiny hahah.

Next time I come to Vancouver I definitely want to add on a cruise trip to Alaska as well. I wanted to go this time but unfortunately my dates didn't work out. I really love Vancouver so far and it's only my first full day here.. I already want to come back again in the future!

472. Recent Life / Food

travel magazines
As mentioned in my previous post..here is a big catch up of random photos taken in the past month or two! I just went through and saw that pretty much all of them consist of food lol. In the photo above are the travel magazines I bought this month. I got all the good ones I could find. Now I am subscribed (by mail) to CN Traveler, Lonely Planet, National Geographic Traveler, Travel + Leisure & Canadian Traveller lol. Plus I also have subscriptions to 3 business magazines. I guess I read quite a bit.

I heard this is a good restaurant but to be honest I didn't like the food that much. The restaurant interiors were nice though.

McEwan food
I've been going to McEwan's for lunch a lot these days. For those of you who don't know - he is a famous chef here in Toronto. He has some restaurants around the city and gourmet grocery stores as well. He has a grocery store now in the PATH and a section with prepared foods. My favourite thing there is the shrimp penne (there at the top) but every day there's different dishes. One complaint I have though is that a lot of things are spicy...and unfortunately they don't state that it's spicy on the sign so I accidentally get that stuff alot. & it's things that shouldn't even be spicy (like vegetable penne! I was quite disappointed lol)

Eclairs
Eclairs also at McEwan's

Marche Rosti
Because of the cold weather I've also been staying indoors a lot, only going to PATH-accessible places. So I've been going to Marche more again. I only like the rosti here though. & their Napoleon dessert is pretty good as well.
