542. Recent Life | Saks Food Hall

Saks Fifth Avenue holiday windows
Taking a quick break from all my vacation posts..I still have a lot of those to go through (obviously), but I'll also post occasionally about life back in Toronto. Yesterday I went with my mom and sister to the Eaton Centre which is already all decked out in Christmas decorations. We first went to Saks Fifth Avenue and saw that their new food hall is finally open!! I had been imagining a food hall like Harrods in London (my absolute favourite) but ours is a lot smaller and less ornate, but I still really like it. I'm so happy they finally opened and there's a nice selection of quality food. I live quite close so I'll be going there a lot! I actually went back there again today to get my dinner.

Saks Fifth Avenue Christmas
Brookfield Place Christmas lighting ceremony
A couple nights ago was the annual Christmas lighting ceremony/Starlight fundraiser at Brookfield Place! I've gone every year for the past several years (I live a few minutes walk away so I just drop by mostly for the food & drink lol..but I donate as well!). It's an event to raise money for the Starlight Children's Foundation with auctions, acrobatic performances, free food & drink, etc. It's also the night when they turn on the Christmas lights for the first time inside Allen Lambert Galleria.

Magazines

Opening my mailbox for the first time after a long vacation is always a stressful moment. It was stuffed to the brim this time!! ALL these magazines were in there, plus a stack of mail. I'm sure the postman will be happy when he sees its finally been emptied. I subscribe to a lot of different magazines..& I actually read all of them cover to cover. Now I have a lot to catch up on. There was: Bloomberg Businessweek (3 total - it's a weekly publication), & 1 each of Fortune, Forbes, Travel + Leisure, National Geographic Traveler, Lonely Planet, Conde Nast Traveler, & Insight: The Art of Living by Sothebys. So I need to catch up on them all now before the next issues arrive...

Here are my new shoes from Japan!! I talked about buying them on a previous post if you remember. I really love them! Had been wearing them almost non-stop since I got back. They're actually the only flat shoes I own and wear on a regular basis..I usually only wear flat shoes when I travel. & even then, only to certain locations. I think my style is slowly changing..?

Fortune CN Traveler magazines
CN Traveler with Christy Turlington on the cover and Fortune Magazine's Investor Guide for 2014. I have recently started trading stocks so I've been spending a lot of time recently researching the markets and the best stocks to purchase. It is a lot more stressful than I thought.

346. Last Week

O&B bar
Some photos from my phone taken this past week. Lots of O&B-ing and patios. Last time I posted about O&B I said the Mac and Cheese was the best I've ever had. Well I take that back - had it again and didn't like it anymore. I couldn't even finish it this time. That day I came here for lunch with my friend, which eventually turned into 9 hours of patio-hopping all day. Not sure how that happened! I felt so guilty when I got home (for wasting the entire day). Then I realized I used to do this all the time during the previous summers without feeling guilty at all. I miss those stress-free days with no responsibilities:

O&B Front St O&B mac and cheese
Financial District
Earl's patio
Earl's sticky toffee
Gretzky's
