659. Day 4 of 28 | The Wolseley, Ritz, Flying to Spain

leftbanked Ritz
I didn't have time to make this post last night so right now I'm updating from Spain. Last night I flew from London to La Coruna. For my final day in London, I met Anouk for lunch at The Wolseley (somewhere I've always wanted to go!) then we walked around the Ritz to take some pics, then I walked back to pick up my luggage from my hotel and left for the airport. My first day in Spain has been a lot of fun so far. I'll post more about that in the next post..

658. Eurotrip Day 3 of 28 | Shopping and Nobu

leftbanked outfit
Today was a good day. I had a pretty productive morning work session. Then I had a successful shopping trip. Then a delicious dinner at Nobu. It's my final night in London. Tomorrow night I fly to Spain..I am really excited to see my boyfriend again. We've only been apart a few days but it feels like way longer hahah. I feel I didn't do as much in London this time..but it was nice to catch up with Anouk. I'm really looking forward to the rest of my trip.

Le Pain Quotidien
There is a Le Pain Quotidien right beside my hotel so I went there for breakfast and a few hours of work this morning. It was definitely the most enjoyable "work breakfast" I ever had. I really liked the atmosphere there and the staff were really nice. & I loved the porridge!

shopping
Then shopping at Selfridges!

VAT refund
Fendi ice cream
There was this Fendi pop-up in Selfridges. I got a hazelnut gelato popsicle. It was sooo delicious.

Stella McCartney Adidas
Then I went to the Adidas store across the street, not planning to really get anything (since I was just in the Toronto store recently and didn't find anything I liked). I loved it here! The selection is so much better than in Toronto (as with most stores lol) and I found so many things I wanted. A lot of the designs I've never even seen. I bought these things here, except the pale pink tshirt. The fit resembled a wet suit too much. Just when I thought my Stellasport/Stella McCartney Adidas phase was over lol.

Galvins
After that I rushed back to my hotel to drop everything off before going to meet Anouk for a quick drink prior to our dinner.

Nobu London Park Lane
Then dinner at Nobu! It was my first time here. The food was all really good. I over-ordered though, as usual, and left feeling really full. I will make a separate post dedicated to this dinner in the future.

657. Eurotrip Day 2 of 28 | Buckingham Palace

hotel breakfast
Today was a really rainy (and cold) day here in London. I started off having breakfast at my hotel. Then I worked for a bit before heading to lunch to meet with Anouk. It was our first time seeing each other again since she came to visit Toronto in April this year. After that we went for a tour inside the state rooms of Buckingham Place. I REALLY wish we could've taken photos inside because it was so ornate and beautiful. But unfortunately it was strictly prohibited so all I have from the tour is this:

Buckingham Palace ticket
You have to purchase timed tickets in advance. Even though ours was for 2:15pm, we ended up finally getting in around 2:45pm. There was a lot of people and everyone has to go through security check. & I think we finished around 3:20pm..so the line to get in was pretty much the same amount of time we spent actually inside lol. Then we went to visit the gift shop and probably spent even more time in there.

Harrods
Then we went to walk around Harrods for awhile. On my previous trips to London, I literally came to Harrods every day and ate a lot of meals at their restaurants. So it felt really familiar to me. I didn't buy anything though. I don't have any particular (major) thing I want to buy on this trip..tomorrow I'll walk around some clothing stores and see if I can find anything.

Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Cafe
Then a late lunch/early dinner at Harvey Nichols' Fifth Floor Cafe. I got a sea bass. It was delicious!!

After the meal Anouk and I parted ways. I had the most annoying time getting back to my hotel. I was going to take the tube back to save time (since I had a lot of work emails waiting for me) rather than walk (which would've taken maybe 35min). The tube was extremely hot and super crowded. I don't think I've ever been on anything as packed. So I got out a couple stops before mine to walk the rest of the way. I was also pretty nervous being in such a crowded space so I wanted to get out. I ended up walking the wrong way since my GPS was completely unreliable and nearly ended up where I started (where I first got in the tube). So I had to walk back and by that time I was already pretty exhausted so I went to a cafe to rest and try to catch up on my work via their wifi/on my phone. But it was a super slow connection so that didn't work out so well.

Anyways, I eventually made it back. Had an issue with my room key (had to go up and down a few times for them to fix it) then grabbed my laptop and went out again to eat while catching up on work.

656. Eurotrip Day 1 of 28 | Arriving in London!

Regent Street
Hello from London! It's currently 1:30am here. We arrived in London early "yesterday" morning. We flew from Toronto Pearson Airport to London Gatwick (which is very inconvenient I now realize). From there we took the Gatwick Express into the city and then a cab to my hotel. We were both so exhausted by the time we arrived with jetlag and all.
My boyfriend stayed here most of the day then flew to Spain. I am always used to travelling/exploring alone and love it, but now that he's gone I feel a strange sense of loneliness lol. I guess this is a good thing though. I'll be going later this week to meet him again..then we will continue our month-long trip around several countries in Europe. So excited!! Besides Hong Kong, London is the city I've travelled/spent the most time in. So coming back I got a feeling of familiarity. All the other cities on this trip will be ones I'm visiting for the first time ever though.

Coincidentally my friend Anouk is also in London these few days so we will be meeting up again. Every time we meet up it's in a different city. One of these days I'll actually make it to Luxembourg..hahah.

I'm going to try my best to do these daily blog posts again, or at least every other day. I really enjoy doing them when I travel, looking back and writing about the day to look back on in the future. I am working the same as I do in Toronto though (I work online/remotely) so I am still going to be pretty busy. Hopefully I will have a bit of time at the end of every night to do this. I will post a maximum of 10 photos per day then the rest I'll post when I get back to Toronto. Which - as you may know with my Asia blog posts - will be quite a lengthy process.

It was my first time flying with British Airways. Overall the flight was pretty good. Just the air in the cabin was super dry. I managed to sleep a little which I *never* usually do on flights.

Oxford Street
Bodeans BBQ
I'm staying near Oxford Circus this time. After checking in to the hotel we took a nap for awhile then went out in search of food. Since we were so hungry we kind of chose the first decent one we saw. We ended up at Bodean's BBQ which turned out to be very good.

Puma sneakers
If you know me, you'll know that flat shoes/sneakers are extremely rare for me to buy. I decided to buy a new pair for this trip so I got these Puma ones. I really love the colour. They match my socks colour pretty well too hahah.

380. London | Snapshots

Kensington Palace London
Some random photos taken around London! I think I'm due for another vacation soon as I'm nearly done all the posts from there (finally). The photo above is Kensington Palace. Rydges hotel, one of the hotels I stayed at, was about a 15-minute walk from Kensington Gardens so I took a walk there one day.

It was a nice walk with lots of nice cars along the way, including one of my favourites..the Mercedes G

I walked around the gardens for a bit, but didn't spend too much time there as it looked like it was going to rain (like always in London). I liked it though - will need to go back again sometime the next time I visit London, on a sunny day.

Having a mille-feuille at PAUL. I love their patisseries.

I stayed at a hotel close to Kings Cross station for a few nights. It's a great base for travelling all around the city.

Cafe Liberty London
I love AQ/AQ. I'm not sure if any of their clothes can be found here in Toronto, so I had to pay a visit to the store on Carnaby Street when I was in London. I bought a dress there (which I love - will post it in a future post!) then went to have lunch at Liberty.

Another few nights, my hotel was close to Victoria station and about a 15-min walk to Buckingham Palace. I walked there one night for some night photography, and went back again during the day so I could walk through St. James' Park too.

Another 15-min walk from Buckingham Palace you will reach Big Ben & The London Eye.

I flew to Paris for several days near the end of my trip, then flew back to London before coming back to Toronto the next morning. I didn't bother going back into the city for just one night, so I stayed at the airport/Yotel, - a nice little airport hotel. Their rooms are really cool. I booked it for half the night so I can take a quick nap and shower before catching my flight.

Cafe Rouge pain perdu
In the morning, I went for a quick breakfast at Cafe Rouge. Their pain perdu is delicious.

Oriel Restaurant Heathrow
Oriel Restaurant
Then lunch at Oriel before going on my flight. I ate here a couple years ago too, when I was flying back home from London. Sat at almost the same spot.
